Our Mission & History

The Mission of the First Presbyterian Church of Audubon is to be a community of Christians who acknowledge and proclaim the love of Christ for each other and for all God’s people by:

  • Sharing life together through worship, fellowship, care and support;
  • Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed;
  • Making God’s love real by reaching out to those in need;
  • Lifelong growth in personal faith, biblical understanding, and spiritual gifts.

On April 14, 2004, this church celebrated one hundred and twenty-five years of faithful service to the word and mission of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our history in this community dates to 1879, when Rev. John Herron and Rev. E.B. Cousins organized Audubon’s first church with seven charter members.  The church’s congregation, ministers, and physical structure have changed over the ensuring years; however, our foundational beliefs have remained constant.

Our present building was dedicated on December 10, 1899.  While through the years many changes have been made, the most current project is restoring the magnificent stained glass windows that our forefathers graced this building with.
